Nestle and Chromocell have extended their partnership to reduce the amount of sodium in Nestle’s foods and find a better replacement for salt.

VEVEY, SWITZERLAND — Nestle S.A. and Chromocell Corp. have extended their partnership to reduce the amount of sodium in Nestle’s foods and find a better, more natural replacement for salt.

To reduce the amount of sodium in Nestle’s foods, the company said it will continue to fund Chromocell for use of the latter’s Chromovert technology. The technology identifies compounds that increase sodium reduction.

“We are pleased to extend our partnership with Chromocell as part of our continued commitment to reducing the sodium in our food and beverages, to provide healthier choices while retaining the same great taste,” said Sean Westcott, head of Nestle’s R.&D. center in Solon, Ohio.
