November all-wheat price up 4c from October

WASHINGTON — The preliminary national average price received by farmers for all wheat in November was $8.42 per bu, up 4c from $8.38 in October and up $1.12 from $7.30 in November 2011, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Agricultural Prices report.

The average price paid for winter wheat in November was $8.40 per bu, up 7c from $8.33 in October and up $1.96 from $6.44 in November 2011. The average price paid for durum was $8.11 per bu, up 50c from $7.61 in October but down $2.19 from $10.30 in November 2011. Spring wheat other than durum averaged $8.49 per bu, down 7c from $8.56 in October but up 6c from $8.43 in November 2011.

The average price paid for all rice was $14.70 a cwt, up 40c from $14.30 in October but down 30c from $15 in November 2011.

The November index of prices received by farmers for food grains was 265 compared with the 1990-92 base of 100, unchanged from October but up 11% from 238 in November 2011.

The November index of feed grains was 290, down 1% from 293 in October but up 15% from 252 in November 2011.

The average price paid to farmers for corn was $6.71 a bu, down 6c from $6.77 in October but up 88c from $5.83 in November 2011. Farmers received an average of $12.30 a cwt for grain sorghum in November, down 10c from $12.40 in October but up $1.60 from $10.70 in November 2011. The average price paid for oats in November was $3.70 a bu, down 25c from $3.95 in October but up 32c from $3.38 in November 2011.

The index of November prices received for oilseeds was 245, down slightly from 246 in October but up 14% from 215 in November 2011. Farmers received an average of $13.80 a bu for soybeans in November, down 40c from $14.20 in October but up $2.10 from $11.70 in November 2011.

The November index for dairy products was 169, up 2% from 165 in October and up 8% from 157 in November 2011. The average price paid for all milk in November was $22.10 a cwt, up 60c from $21.50 in October and up $1.60 from $20.50 in November 2011.

The November poultry and egg index was 183, up 10% from 166 in October and up 19% from 154 in November 2011. The average price paid to farmers for all eggs in November was $1.19 a dozen, up 16c from $1.03 in October and up 17c from $1.02c in November 2011.
