AbiMar Foods’ parent company, Grupo Nutresa SA, is one Colombia’s largest and fastest growing food companies that produce and sell cold cuts, biscuits, chocolates, coffee, ice cream, pasta and prepared foods.
AbiMar is a part of Noel SA, Grupo Nutresa’s biscuit division, which was founded in 1916 and owns more than half of the cookie and cracker market in its home country. As its name indicates, Noel represents the joy of Christmas to its consumers in Colombia and beyond.
Headquartered in Medellin, Grupo Nutresa operates more than 40 plants in 14 countries and sells its products in 72 others on five continents. Over the years, it has grown through acquisitions. Most recently, it purchased Colombia’s largest quick-service restaurant chain and started up the first Starbucks cafe in that country, where it commands a 60% share of the markets in which it competes.
