EyePro System, Trento, Italy, recently introduced a new lane balancing system for buns, which it has tested with all varieties of thin sandwich buns with great success.

The company was initially concerned that the crowded flow of buns, jostling against one another, would cause their relatively low shoulders to overlap, according to Andrew McGhie, business manager, North America. Testing found no such difficulties. “The buns still crowd together, but they will move forward and lane perfectly with no problem at all.”

The EyePro Laner uses accumulation conveyors that slow down or speed up to achieve an even front across the conveyor as buns head toward slicing and packaging equipment, he explained.
