WASHINGTON — Frozen stocks of eggs, cheese, butter, turkey, beef and pork on July 31 were greater than year-earlier levels, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest

Cold Storage report.

Total frozen egg stocks on July 31 were 22,370,000 lbs, up 3% from June and up 6% from July 2008. Stocks of egg whites were 3,131,000 lbs, up 6% from the previous month and up 4% from the previous year. Frozen egg yolk stocks were 1,033,000 lbs, down 8% from the previous month and down 7% from the previous year. Whole and mixed egg stocks came in at 9,116,000 lbs, up 6% from June and up 8% from July 2008.

Total natural cheese stocks were 982,541,000 lbs, up 1% from the previous month and up 9% from the previous year. Total butter stocks were 263,954,000 lbs, equal to levels in June and up 7% from July 2008.

Turkey stocks totaled 640,092,000 lbs, up 8% from June and up 3% from July 2008, while total chicken stocks were 677,747,000 lbs, up 4% from the previous month but down 8% from the previous year. Overall, total frozen poultry supplies were 1,324,135,000 lbs, up 6% from June but down 3% from July 2008, the U.S.D.A. said.

Total red meat supplies were 1,025,469,000 lbs, down 2% from June but up 7% from July 2008. Total frozen beef stocks were 448,152,000 lbs, up 3% from the previous month and up 4% from the previous year. Frozen pork stocks totaled 547,331,000 lbs, down 5% from June but up 8% from the previous year. Frozen pork belly stocks were 60,229,000 lbs, down 21% from June but up 4% from July 2008.

Total frozen vegetable stocks were 1,843,547,000 lbs, up 18% from June and up 13% from the previous year.

Stocks of frozen french fries were 980,481,000 lbs, down 3% from June but up 14% from July 2008.

Stocks of all types of frozen fruit totaled 1,145,616,000 lbs, up 18% from June and up 10% from the previous year.

Stocks of frozen orange juice concentrate were 1,370,521,000 lbs, down 8% from the previous month and down 4% from the previous year.

Fresh apples in regular and controlled storage totaled 503,238,000 lbs, down 42% from June but up 71% from July 2008.
