Kellogg in partnership to raise fiber awareness

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. — The Kellogg Co. has teamed up with dietitian Leslie Bonci to offer "FIBER-pe-dia: A comprehensive look at fiber." The on-line report, available at www.fiber-pedia.com or www.kelloggsnutrition.com, provides consumer information for incorporating good sources of fiber into diets and explains how fiber may be beneficial to a healthy heart, weight and digestion.
The launch of the report and web site comes on the heels of a survey conducted by Kellogg that found nearly 70% of Americans are making an effort to increase the amount of fiber in their diet by eating more whole grains. While many whole grains are excellent sources of fiber, the fiber content of whole grain foods varies widely and there are some fiber rich foods that do not contain any whole grain ingredients.
"Kellogg is taking a leadership role in helping consumers understand how to get more fiber in their diets," said Nelson Almeida, vice-president of global nutrition for Kellogg. "Cereal is a great way to do so, and Kellogg has more ready-to-eat cereals that are at least a good source of fiber than any other food company, including All-Bran, Kellogg’s Raisin Bran and Frosted Mini-Wheats."
