BREA, CALIF. — Niutang Chemical plans to expand its sucralose capacity to 500 tonnes from 300 tonnes within three years. The company has the ability to further expand capacity to 1,000 tonnes by 2014.

The May 28 expansion announcement came after the U.S. International Trade Commission in April upheld an I.T.C. ruling that Niutang and other manufacturers of Chinese sucralose did not infringe patents owned by London-based Tate & Lyle, P.L.C. for manufacturing the high-intensity sweetener.

Niutang’s customer base spans North America, Central America, South America, Europe and Asia. The company is based in The People’s Republic of China and has a U.S. office in Brea.

"We are proactively planning for future expansions to ensure that we are able to meet the sucralose needs of the global marketplace," said Licheng Wang Jr., general manager of Niutang Chemical.
