SK Food adds chia seed to its portfolio

FARGO, N.D. — SK Food International has introduced chia seed in both identity-preserved certified organic and conventional form. The chia seed (Salvia Hispanica L) offers omega-3 fatty acids, protein, calcium and fiber. Applications include baked foods, cereals, snack foods, confections, supplements and oils.
"We are pleased to be able to offer both certified organic and conventional chia seed, as supply was limited until recently," said Paul Berglund, procurement manager for Fargo-based SK Food International. "Our production area is diverse, including areas of South America and Mexico."
