H.B.A. 'Back to Basics' annual meeting set for Oct. 4-7

TOPEKA, KAS. — The Home Baking Association will celebrate its 50th anniversary next month as part of its annual meeting set for Oct. 4-7 at the Historic Union Station hotel in Nashville, Tenn.
The theme of this year’s meeting is "Back to Basics." The event will provide opportunities to reflect on the past and consider the future with the resurgence of home baking across the country, according to the H.B.A.
The three-day conference will feature 12 speakers and include a hands-on workshop to showcase new baking techniques. Judi Adams, president of the Grain Foods Foundation, is scheduled to present "Lessons learned using our social marketing to reach our audience" as part of the Oct. 5 morning session.
A consumer services panel titled "Eggs or eggplant?" will be held the afternoon of Oct. 6 and is scheduled to include Diane McElroy, director of consumer affairs for ACH Foods; Donna Pearson, consumer response at General Mills, Inc.; Tom Payne, director of marketing for King Arthur Flour; Kelly Olson, consumer public relations for Lessaffre Yeast; and Marsha Parker, Tennessee FACS Extension, Christian County.
