WASHINGTON — The Organic Trade Association, based in Greenfield, Mass., has opened a Washington office and plans to fill a new legislative and advocacy position that will be based in the Washington office. Also, Laura Batcha, formerly director of marketing and public relations, has been promoted to chief of policy and external relations for the O.T.A. She will continue to be based in Greenfield, but will spend more time in Washington.

The O.T.A.’s Washington office is located in the Hall of the States at 444 North Capitol Street, N.W. More than 90 organizations have office space in the Hall of the States.

"This office, located three blocks from Capitol Hill, will help the trade association increase its visibility and effectiveness in D.C. with Congress, the Executive Branch and all regulatory agencies, including the National Organic Program housed at U.S.D.A," said Christine Bushway, executive director and chief executive officer of the O.T.A.
