NEW YORK — Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street, is launching “Food for Thought: Eating Well on a Budget” with funding and support of UnitedHealthcare and The Merck Company Foundation. The new multimedia initiative is designed to help support families who have children between the ages of two and eight cope with uncertain or limited access to affordable and nutritious food. As part of the initiative, officially set to launch Dec. 7, Sesame Street is introducing four new Muppets known as the “Superfoods.” Among the “Superfoods” is a Muppet in the shape of a whole grain roll.
