WASHINGTON — The American Bakers Association has engaged Larry Mize to serve as the golf tournament pro for the 2010 Paul Abenante PEC Golf Tournament March 16.

The tournament is part of the A.B.A. annual convention, to be held March 14-17 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Fla.

Announcing this year’s tournament, Robb MacKie, A.B.A. president and chief executive officer, thanked A.B.A. allied members for the sponsorship of Mr. Mize. While Mr. Mize’s PGA Tour career spanned more than 20 years, he is best known for his victory at the 1987 Masters. Tied after four rounds with Seve Ballesteros and Greg Norman, Mr. Mize won at the second playoff hole by chipping in a 140-foot shot for a birdie.

The Paul Abenante PEC Golf Tournament is held annually in support of A.B.A.’s political education activities. Proceeds help programs such as the group’s “Rise to Action” web site devoted to issues of concern to the baking industry. The funds also are used to congressional directories and high-profile speakers.
