CHIAGO — Dennis C. Riddle, president of the Corn Processing division of Archer Daniels Midland Co., will be a featured speaker at the 2010 annual meeting of the Long Co. Mr. Riddle will discuss the myth that links high-fructose corn syrup to obesity.

The Long Co. will hold its annual meeting Sept. 24-25 at the Encore hotel in Las Vegas. As is the group’s tradition during Baking Expo years, the meeting will be held just before the start of the International Baking Industry Exposition.

Other featured topics at the meeting will include innovative approaches to SQF (safe quality food) training, the economic outlook for the year ahead, and important information on how the new health care law changes will affect business.

Carol Conner Cohen, a partner in the Washington law firm of Arent Fox, will discuss pension reform. Ms. Cohen has represented numerous employers in negotiations and litigation with the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp.

Dan Malovany, who recently joined Sosland Publishing Co. as an editor with Baking & Snack magazine, will present the latest in baking industry news, in a “State of the Industry” report.

The meeting also will feature a panel discussion among three baking industry groups: BEMA, the American Bakers Association and the Independent Bakers Association. The group will discuss topics such as food safety, health care reform, and the future of the industry
