Bakery presidents promoted at Flowers

THOMASVILLE, GA. — Bobby J. Harrison and John S. Gilmer Jr. have been promoted to new positions at Flowers Foods, Inc.

Mr. Harrison has been named president of Flowers Baking Co. of Denton, Texas, where he will oversee manufacturing and sales operations that serve Texas, Oklahoma and portions of Kansas and New Mexico. The Denton facility is one of seven Flowers bakeries located in Texas. Mr. Harrison succeeds Keith Wheeler, who was named president of Flowers’ bakery in Phoenix.

Mr. Harrison joined Flowers in 1980 as a route salesperson in Paris, Texas, and since then has held a number of sales positions, including vice-president of sales in Dallas/Fort Worth and Tyler, Texas, and Pine Bluff, Ark. He most recently was president of Flowers’ bakery in Tyler since 2000.

Succeeding Mr. Harrison as president of Flowers Baking Co. of Tyler is Mr. Gilmer Jr. Mr. Gilmer Jr. will be responsible for overseeing manufacturing and sales operations that serve portions of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Mr. Gilmer Jr. began his baking career in 1986 working for a regional baker. He joined Flowers in 1998 as director of sales in Memphis, Tenn. Since 2004 he has been vice-president of sales for Flowers’ bakeries located in Lynchburg, Va., and in Baton Rouge, La.
