BEMA focuses on supermarket bakery operations
January 28, 2011
A supermarket bakery panel, featuring some of the top baking companies in that channel, will highlight this year’s BEMA’s Winter Summit, which will be held March 5-6 in Chicago. The special session includes Scott Young, director of manufacturing engineering & bakeshop services at Wegmans Food Markets, and Thierry Reunbrouck, regional merchant bakery operations at H-E-B.
Additionally, the summit will include an update on the BISSC/ANSI standard. Food safety expert Gale Prince — recently hired by the American Institute of Baking, the American Bakers Association and BEMA to lead the industry in revitalizing and promoting the BISSC/ANSI standard — will provide this update.
This year’s meeting also will feature Butch Lumpkin, who is an unlikely golfer who was born with very short and less than functional arms and now is a golf and tennis pro, will tell his life’s story. Visit www.bema.org
