INDIANAPOLIS — Harlan Bakeries said it is expanding its Indianapolis operations through a $14 million investment that will add 135,000 square feet of production space and $4 million in new equipment. The expansion is expected to boost the company’s nutritional cookie and energy bar products business.

Harlan Bakeries is a family-owned business that produces and supplies kosher bagels and bagel related products. Harlan’s own product line was introduced in the Indianapolis area in August of 1991. Currently Harlan’s products are found in most grocers’ frozen food sections in many midwestern states. Harlan also produces bagel chips, mini bagels, private label bagels and health bars.

Harlan has facilities in Indianapolis and Avon, Ind.; Denver; Hope, Ark.; Effingham, Ill.; and Nova Scotia.
