MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — Kellogg Canada, which in 2007 invested approximately C$100 million to build a Mini-Wheats cereal facility in Belleville, Ont., will invest another C$43 million ($44.4 million) to add a new cereal production line at the site. The province of Ontario will provide C$4.5 million of the funds needed for the upgrade.
“We’re pleased to have the opportunity to grow our investment, our business and our commitment to Ontario,” said Carol Stewart, president of Kellogg Canada. “We hope to be able to move quickly to create the proposed manufacturing and distribution jobs in Belleville, which would be great news for our company, as well as the community.”
The production line is expected to be up and running by the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011, Kellogg Canada said.
Kellogg Canada is a wholly owned subsidiary of Battle Creek, Mich.-based Kellogg Co. In addition to the manufacturing facility in Belleville, Kellogg Canada has a facility in London, Ont., and three administrative offices, including a corporate head office in Mississauga, and sales offices in Calgary and Montreal.
