NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Niacet Corp. said it will raise the off list prices of calcium propionate and sodium propionate by 10c per lb, effective May 15.

“Recent months have seen significant increases in the price of ethylene,” said Michael R. Bowers, director of sales and marketing. “Ethylene is the cost driver for propionic acid, which is the cost driver for our propionates. Propionic acid has increased in price to the extent that we must announce a price increase for our propionates.”

Mr. Bowers said it has been more than a year since Niacet has had to increase propionate prices, and during that time the company has absorbed increases in the cost of labor, freight and packaging.
