BATTLE CREEK, MICH. — Keebler and the American Red Cross announced an agreement under which Keebler has been named the official cookies supplier for Red Cross blood drives.

Under the agreement, Keebler will contribute more than 6 million cookies to blood donors, generating almost $2 million in annual savings for the Red Cross.

For many years, cookies and juice have been offered to blood donors in recovery areas following the blood donations.

“We are fortunate to work with a partner who believes, as we do, that a simple act of kindness can significantly impact the life of another,” said Gail McGovern, president and chief executive officer of the American Red Cross. “Offering a delicious cookie to generous blood donors nationwide is our way of thanking them for their time and donation.”

The Red Cross described the partnership as a natural one, noting that Keebler has partnered with the Red Cross, supporting local blood drives and other services for many years. For its part, the Red Cross, because of nearly 4 million blood donors, provides blood and blood products to users in many parts of the United States.

“We believe in the value of doing uncommonly good deeds and are excited to be partnering with the American Red Cross to encourage all eligible people in America to give blood and recognize them for doing so,” said Todd Penegor, Kellogg president of US Snacks. “We hope that our giving back to the people that give to others will inspire even more simple acts of kindness.”
