KANSAS CITY — Judi Adams of the Grain Foods Foundation and Lee Sanders of the American Bakers Association are among the scheduled speakers for the Wheat Quality Council’s annual meeting and technical conference set for Feb. 14-16 at the Embassy Suites hotel in Kansas City.

Ms. Adams and Ms. Sanders will discuss nutrition and labeling policy-key issues for the grain chain as part of a forum titled “Update on wheat consumption and related issues.”

Other members of the forum include Megan Speas of Horizon Milling, who will present an industry and category review, and Jan Levenhagen of Mennel Milling Co., who will update conference attendees on food safety.

Lance Mistelbacher, vice-president of risk management for Maple Leaf Foods Inc., will be the keynote dinner speaker at the annual banquet on Feb. 16. Mr. Mistelbacher will present “The demise of single desk selling: A perspective on the impact of changes to the Canadian Wheat Board.”

In addition to the forum, the W.Q.C. will hold its annual review of new wheat lines submitted for testing from three wheat classes: hard winters, hard springs and eastern softs.

The early registrations already have set a record for attendance at a W.Q.C. annual meeting.
