HORSHAM, PA. — Bimbo Bakeries USA has teamed up with Olympic gold medalists Misty May-Treanor, beach volleyball champion, and Abby Wambach, co-captain of the women’s soccer team. The partnership features the athletes’ original recipes, tips, videos and promotions offering the chance to interact with each athlete in-person. Through its Arnold, Brownberry and Oroweat bread brands, Bimbo Bakeries USA has been the official bread supplier of the U.S. Olympic Team since 2004.
The first promotion, the Slice of Gold recipe contest, is now open for entries on www.facebook.com/arnoldandoroweatbread. From today through July 7 individuals may submit their recipes in the Slice of Gold recipe for the opportunity to win a private volleyball clinic with Ms. May-Treanor. Meanwhile, beginning June 25 and continuing through Aug. 9, Arnold/Brownberry/Oroweat will launch a sweepstakes to win Olympic Games-themed prizes, with the grand prize of a soccer clinic with Ms. Wambach.
“I love sandwiches,” Ms. Wambach said. “They’re delicious and so versatile, and are an easy way to get comfortable experimenting in the kitchen. It’s important to start with a great base, like Oroweat 100% Whole Wheat Bread, then add your favorite ingredients or try new ones.”
As part of the partnership, Bimbo also is donating $200,000 to the U.S. Olympic Committee to support Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
