BRUSSELS, BELGIUM — The European Commission on Thursday granted clearance under the E.U. Merger Regulation to the acquisition by Minneapolis-based General Mills, Inc. of sole control over Paris-based Yoplait.

General Mills on May 18 signed definitive agreements with PAI partners and Sodiaal to acquire a 51% controlling interest in Yoplait S.A.S. and a 50% interest in a related entity that holds the worldwide Yoplait brands for approximately €810 million. Sodiaal, a French dairy cooperative, will hold the remaining ownership stakes in both entities.
