Nestle joins project of food, genes

VEVEY, SWITZERLAND — The Nestle Research Center in Switzerland will collaborate with King’s College London on a project to examine the relationship between food and genes. The project will study how human genes and their encoded proteins determine bodily functions, including how people metabolize food, respond to the environment and detoxify their bodies. The six-month project is scheduled to begin later this year. The United Kingdom’s Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council gave an interchange award to King’s College, which helped bring about the partnership with Nestle.
