MINNEAPOLIS — Caribou Coffee has introduced oatmeal at its company-owned gourmet coffeehouses. Customers first may choose from two base varieties — seven grains or an oatmeal blend —and then have the option of choosing from five flavors: classic, apple cinnamon, cranberry orange, maple brown sugar crunch and Very Berry. Customers also have the option of choosing up to three toppings, including apple cinnamon, strawberry compote, orange compote, dried cranberries, golden raisins, almonds, maple syrup and maple brown sugar crunch.

Each bowl of the oatmeal has 9 to 17 grams of protein, depending on the variety and flavor combination, and is considered a significant source of fiber, Caribou Coffee said.

“As we enhance our menu offerings, we’re very conscious of the fact that Caribou guests are looking for something quick that’s also wholesome,” said Alfredo Martel, senior vice president of marketing. “We’re here to help them start their day on the right foot by offering a warm, satisfying breakfast and delicious, premium coffee.”

As part of the new oatmeal launch, Caribou Coffee is offering two combos. For $3.49, customers may choose any oatmeal along with a medium coffee. For $4.99, customers may get any oatmeal along with a medium latte.

In addition to introducing oatmeal to the menu, Caribou Coffee said it is in the testing phase of an in-store baking program in select markets.
