SEATTLE — Starbucks Coffee Co. will introduce new low-calorie food and beverage options beginning Jan. 12, including four Panini sandwiches with fewer than 400 calories and a line of snack options each with 220 calories or less per serving.

"Reducing the number of calories — even slightly — can have a great benefit over time," said Katie Thomson, senior nutritionist, Starbucks. "Saving just 100 calories a day adds up to about 10 lbs of weight loss per year. And we know cutting calories should not mean depriving customers of great taste."

The new Panini sandwiches will be available in more than 4,200 stores with warming ovens and include: Chicken Santa Fe, Roasted Tomatoes and Mozzarella, Ham and Swiss, and Tuna Melt.

The new snack options include Annie’s Snacks, FoodShouldTasteGood, KIND bars, Lucy’s Cookies, Peeled Snacks, Peter Rabbit Organics, Sahale Snacks, Stretch Island Fruit Co., and Two Moms in the Raw.

In addition to food, Starbucks said it will introduce 10 new teas, all featuring whole tea leaves and many featuring whole botanicals and spices. The Tazo Full Leaf Teas have zero calories and will be joined on the beverage menu by Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte and Skinny Vanilla Latte, each of which has 90 calories in a 12-oz cup.
