NEW YORK — Judging by the new book’s title, “Bread is the Devil, Win the Weight Loss Battle by Taking Control of Your Diet Demons” apparently will have little good to say about bread consumption, and other food items may take image hits as well. Heather Bauer, a registered dietitian, wrote the diet book, which is scheduled to go on sale Jan. 3, 2012.

The Grain Foods Foundation, Ridgway, Colo., has alerted its members of the pending publication, but it has opted to not issue a proactive statement. Once the book is published, the foundation said it will reevaluate the situation based on media attention and the book’s content.

Ms. Bauer founded Nu-Train, a nutrition and diet counseling center in New York. She previously wrote “The Wall Street Diet.”

“Bread is the Devil” is designed to help people fight cravings that have negative effects on their eating routines, according to promotional material. It gives an example of a large bread basket arriving on a restaurant table at dinnertime. Other examples are M&M’s, ice cream, chips and birthday cake.

The publication will follow the 2011 publication of “Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight and Find Your Path Back to Health.” Written by Dr. William Davis, the book attempts to connect modern wheat to such issues as weight gain, diabetes and heart disease.
