WASHINGTON — The preliminary national average price received by farmers for all wheat in June was $7.85 per bu, down 31c from $8.16 in May but up $3.69 from $4.16 in June 2010, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Agricultural Prices report.

The average price paid for winter wheat in June was $7.35 a bu, down 45c from $7.80 in May but up $3.30 from $4.05 in June 2010. The average price paid for durum was $9.96 a bu, up $2.10 from $7.86 in May and up $5.38 from $4.58 in June 2010. Spring wheat other than durum averaged $9.84 per bu, up 99c from $8.85 in May and up $5.26 from $4.58 in June 2010.

The average price paid for rough rice in June was $12 a cwt, down 40c from $12.40 in May and down $1.20 from $13.20 a year ago.

The June index of prices received by farmers for food grains was 257 compared with the 1990-92 base of 100, up 2% from 252 the previous month and up 77% from 145 in June 2010.

The June index for feed grains was 269, up 1.5% from 265 the previous month and up 81% from 149 in June 2010. The average price paid to farmers for corn was $6.58 a bu, up 28c from $6.30 in May and up $3.17 from $3.41 in June 2010. Farmers received an average of $11.80 a cwt for grain sorghum in June, up 20c from $11.60 in May and up $6.42 from $5.38 in June 2010. The average price paid for oats in June was $3.51 a bu, down 4c from $3.55 in May but up $1.40 from $2.11 in June 2010.

The index of June prices received for oilseeds was 240, up 2% from 236 in May and up 43% from 168 in June 2010. Farmers received an average of $13.30 a bu for soybeans in June, up 10c from May and up $3.85 from $9.45 in June 2010.

The June index for dairy products was 161, up 7% from 150 in May and up 36% from 118 in June 2010. The average price for all milk in June was $21 a cwt, up $1.40 from $19.60 in May and up $5.60 from $15.40 a year ago.

The June poultry and egg index was 157, up 1% from 155 in May and up 4% from 151 in June 2010. The average price paid to farmers for all eggs in June was 88c a dozen, up 6c from May and up 26c from 62c in June 2010.
