List of hall of fame worthy candidates grows

When Gary Brodsky used his platform as chairman of the American Society of Baking to establish the group’s Baking Hall of Fame in 2006, he intended it to recognize the baking industry’s giants past and present. The first few years’ honorees were rightly the pioneers who shaped today’s industry. Now, in recent times, inductee classes added several of today’s movers and shakers.

While more individuals from the industry’s past still deserve an invitation to the Hall of Fame, it is exciting to see the growing number of contemporaries reaching this level of recognition. One reason for this increase is the rising number of nominations, all of which makes induction an even more signal honor than ever.

According to a selection committee insider, this year’s roster offered nearly two dozen individuals — a remarkable number. This happened because more of you are nominating worthy candidates, a change thoroughly encouraged by A.S.B. and the selection committee.

One additional point: nominations for 2017 honors are due next September.
