Nominations sought for Baking Hall of Fame

“The one defining characteristic that distinguishes us as humans is our capacity to inspire and be inspired,” wrote Gary Brodsky, the former chairman of the American Society of Baking’s Baking Hall of Fame committee, when he introduced the hall’s first inductees in 2006. “Inspiration ignites the soul,” he added. “It is the driving force of the entrepreneurial spirit.”

The first class of honorees included 13 individuals, a baker’s dozen. Now, there are more than 50 people who have been recognized for changing the face of the baking industry.

Do you know someone who made a lasting contribution to the baking industry? Someone who founded — or led forward — a baking company into national or international renown? An innovative supplier who changed the way lines work or baked foods are made? An educator? An advocate? Then nominate that person to join the Baking Hall of Fame. Recommendations for the hall’s class of 2015 must be submitted by Sept. 2.
