Ammonium Carbonate (NH4)

Ammonium Carbonate ((NH4)2CO3). An ammonium salt of carbonic acid (H2CO3) that disintegrates on heating into ammonia (q.v.), carbon dioxide (q,v.) and water vapor (q.v.). Its uses as a chemical leavening agent (q.v.) are similar to those of ammonium bicarbonate (q.v.).
