Cocoa Extender. Any powdered food material that may be used to duplicate and extend more economically the typical flavor and color of cocoa or chocolate, but without perceptibly altering them. Products used for this purpose in varying amounts include dark molasses solids (q.v.), roasted defatted wheat germ (q.v.), black malt (q.v.) and, in particular, carob powder (q.v.).
