Coconut

Coconut. The white meat that lines the interior of the large, hard-shelled seed of the coconut palm. It is usually shredded and dried for use as a flavoring ingredient in sweet dough (q.v.) and cake (q.v.) products, specialty cookies (q.v.), and certain candy products. It has a relatively high fat content that consists mostly of saturated fatty acids (q.v.).
