Conjugated Protein. Protein molecule (q.v.) to which is joined some other substance that imparts to it specific and special properties. Representative members of this group include nucleoproteins (q.v.), mucin (a mucoprotein), casein (q.v.) (a phosphoprotein), hemoglobin (an iron-containing protein) and lecithoproteins (q.v.).
