Conveyor. Any system whose function it is to transport products from one place to another in the bakery. It usually comprises a power-driven flat carrying surface, such as an endless belt made of fabric, wire grids or metal rods, solid or perforated steel sheet, woven wire mesh, free or powered rollers, or table tops, depending on its application requirements. Flour and other dry, powdery substances are generally transferred by pneumatic conveying systems (q.v.).
