Cottonseed Oil

Cottonseed Oil. The oil extracted from cottonseed (q.v.), consisting of nearly three-fourths of unsaturated fatty acids (q.v.), predominantly of the oleic (q.v.) and linoleic acid (q.v.) groups. It forms an important base for margarine (q.v.) and fluid shortenings (q.v.), and finds extensive use as a bread shortening (q.v.).
