Draw Plate Oven

Draw Plate Oven. An early type of commercial oven (q.v.) in which the steel hearth (q.v.) was mounted on tracks and supported at its front on runners to permit the hearth to be pulled from the oven for loading and unloading. A variant is the multideck oven (q.v.) whose separate hearths, positioned one above the other, are also mounted on wheels to allow external loading and unloading.
