Evaporator

Evaporator. (a) That part of a mechanical refrigerator (q.v.) in which the liquefied refrigerant (q.v.), injected by the condenser (q.v.), is vaporized (q.v.), absorbing heat in the process and thereby producing the cooling effect of the system. (b) Any type of equipment whose function it is to convert a liquid into a vapor (q.v.), or to reduce the moisture content (q.v.) of a substance.
