Fiber

Fiber. A group of indigestible carbohydrates (q.v.) derived from plant cellwall material that include such substances as cellulose (q.v.), lignin (q.v.), hemicellulose (q.v.), pectin (q.v.), and gums (q.v.). They are differentiated into crude fiber (q.v.) and dietary fiber (q.v.).
