Flour

Flour. The finely ground meal of cereals and seeds, such as wheat (q.v.), rye (q.v.), rice (q.v.), soybean (q.v.), corn (q.v.), and others, or of any dried food material, such as potato (q.v.), banana (q.v.), peanuts (q.v.), etc. Depending on its type, and especially if of cereal origin, the product normally undergoes various refining processes to remove those parts of the grain (q.v.) that might detract from the flour's quality or functionality.
