Fudge

Fudge. A smooth, soft candy made from a mixture of sugar (q.v.), milk (q.v.), butter (q.v.), and usually also chocolate (q.v.), that is beaten while hot to a creamy consistency (q.v.); also from vigorously mixed hot caramel (q.v.), augmented with fondant (q.v.), that is cooled after being poured into a frame to yield a product with a milky flavor and a soft texture (q.v.).
