Glaze. (a) A transparent sugary solution, syrup (q.v.), or similar coating (q.v.), that is applied to baked products to seal in moisture and impart a surface gloss and additional flavor and sweetness to them. (b) A inert, waterproof silicone resin (q.v.) which, when applied to the inner surface of baking pans (q.v.) or baking sheets (q.v.), renders them nonsticking and thereby eliminates the need for greasing (q.v.) pans after each bake.
