Natural Flavor

Natural Flavor. Flavor substances that are derived from natural sources, in contrast to synthesized or artificial flavor (q.v.), and include extracts (q.v.) from plant materials, such as spices, fruits, herbs, roots, etc., as well as from fermentative (q.v.) reactions and processing treatments designed to add or to accentuate desirable flavors and tastes in food products.
