Neutral Detergent Fiber
Neutral Detergent Fiber. Any cereal fiber (q.v.), such as cellulose (q.v.), lignin (q.v.), and hemicellulose (q.v.), that is insoluble in boiling neutral detergent, in contrast to digestible materials that are dissolved from the test sample by the detergent. It is the equivalent of dietary fiber (q.v.).
