Nucleic Acid

Nucleic Acid. A vital yeast (q.v.) constituent that is present in two forms: ribonucleic acid (RNA) and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), that constitutes an essential component of many enzyme (q.v.) systems, and represents the genetic material that controls the biosynthesis of specific proteins (q.v.) by the cells of all living organisms.
