Pasta. Any of various foods, as macaroni, spaghetti, noodles, etc., of Italian origin and made from durum wheat flour (q.v.), or semolina (q.v.), and water, often with the addition of egg (q.v.) and milk (q.v.), in a variety of extruded long forms and short shapes, with subsequent drying to ensure a prolonged shelf life (q.v.).
