rH. A symbol for the negative logarithm of an assumed hydrogen pressure of a solution that is used to express its oxidation-reduction, or redox, potential on a scale ranging in values from 0 to 42. As the individual values of the scale represent a negative logarithm, it follows that the higher the rH value of a system, the lower is its reducing (q.v.) power and the higher its oxidizing (q.v.) power.
