Roll

Roll. A small unit of bread (q.v.) that weighs less than 8 ounces and is made of yeast-leavened (q.v.) dough prepared from flour (q.v.) derived from wheat (q.v.), rye (q.v.), or other cereals (q.v.). Also called bun (q.v.), it may vary in shape from round to elongated, with either a soft or crisp crust (q.v.).
