Silicone. Any of a series of semiorganic compounds that combine the inorganic element silicon with organic hydrocarbons (q.v.) to yield resins that are heat stable, inert, waterproof and water-repellent and, when used as a pan coating (q.v.), will provide up to 400 loaf releases (q.v.) with normal pan (q.v.) care without requiring pan greasing (q.v.).
