Simple Syrup

Simple Syrup. A syrup (q.v.) prepared by combining two parts of sugar (q.v.) with one part of water (q.v.) and bringing the mixture to a boil. While it finds many applications in the production of confectionery (q.v.), one of its main uses in baking is as a diluent of icings (q.v.) and glazes (q.v.).
