Single-Acting Baking Powder. A baking powder (q.v.) in which the leavening acid (q.v.) component is readily soluble at a given temperature and reacts with the baking soda (q.v.) to generate a rapid and steady release of carbon dioxide gas (q.v.) either during the batter (q.v.) stage or during baking (q.v.).
